| Two highlights of the city’s suburbs are the Batu Caves and the visit to the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. Batu Caves consist of three big caves and the main temple cave, which features ornate Hindu shrines and has a ceiling looming over 100 metres overhead. To reach it, one has to take a walk up 272 steps, a feat performed by as many as 100,000 devotees during Thaipusam festival. Royal Selangor Visitor Centre will provide a complete visitor experiences from displays of pewter to factory tour where different factory processes will be on live display in an enhanced environment. A stop at Batik cottage is included. |

| The Malay sultanate started here only to be interrupted by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British rule for over a period of 400 years. In this historic town, you will see the cultural remains in the form of both cuisine and old buildings. Included is a visit to St Peter’s Church (1710), the oldest Christian church still in use in Malaysia. Stop at the Bukit Cina foothill to view the Sultan’s Well before driving through the Portuguese Settlement. Proceed to view the famous gateway, Porta De Santiago and the ruins of St Paul’s Church and the Stadthuys. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Cheng Hoon Teng temple, the only temple where you can find three major doctrines of local Chinese belief under the same roof: Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Then take a stroll along Melaka’s antique street. |
